The book contains descriptions of the following fifteen Bantu languages or dialects spoken along the coast of Cameroon: K l, Mboko, Mokpe, Bubia, Isubu, Mongo, Pongo, Duala, Oli, Bidiman, Mulimba, Batanga, Ban h, Bapuku, and Yasa. These languages or dialects correspond to Guthrie's Groups A.20 and A.30 and are referred to by the author as Sawabantu. They are not only described but also compared on phonological, lexical, and morphological levels. Furthermore, based on the linguistic relationships, a new classification of these languages and dialects is proposed, taking into account phonology, lexicon, and morphology.
