This book initially presents a detailed depiction of the anthropological aspects under which philanthropists initiated sexual education, focusing on their self-understanding, educational goals and methods, as well as the contextualization of the concept within the societal conditions of the late 18th century. The second part demonstrates that the structure of early sexual education and specific content areas have persisted into the recent past. At the end of the study, models that have gained significance in recent decades are introduced. The author sees the greatest opportunities for addressing individual and social problems in a sex education that emphasizes maturity and emancipation.
