Product details

The initial question of the work was: Is it possible that the disease breast cancer is related to the general status and representation of women in a patriarchal society? The investigation follows the methodological principles of women's studies, as formulated by Maria Mies, in exploring these questions. Corporeality and the experience of bodily existence are always rooted in external naming, representations, and attributions. The positive significance of the formerly sacred female body has been devalued by patriarchal strategies and transformed into its opposite as a bringer of death. Women have little awareness of the mechanisms that cause them to suffer in body and soul. Only when they recognize that their apparent powerlessness and susceptibility to illness are staged by patriarchy can they begin to design and live alternative images of femininity.
