The dynamically evolving, widespread technological advancement of society presents new challenges for the legal system in general and for law enforcement agencies in particular. National borders are technically irrelevant in internet communication. The unique data transmission technology and the structure of the internet as a network of computer networks without a fixed architecture and control authority facilitate anonymity and the rapid dissemination of criminal content. This work provides an overview of specific categories of offenses as well as a normative theoretical examination of new legislation regarding its suitability for combating specific areas of crime.
