The interpretations in this volume aim to historically reconstruct the ancient ideal of knowledge, to which classical philosophy owes its form. For Plato and Aristotle, science still has functions to fulfill that are rarely discussed in modern society: it maintains relationships with questions of ancient religion, seeks to free the human soul from 'mud,' and serves to establish a true order of society. The path from divine logic to human politics is the steep path of the philosopher, on which he struggles to think. While the happiness of the gods may beckon him from above, the philosopher is first confronted with the question: Which politics?.
