The study highlights the various aspects of the image of Africa in current German-language children's and youth literature. Based on questions from comparative imagology, it uncovers the interconnections between societal and literary stereotyping. From an intercultural perspective, the author engages with the question of how stereotypes about Africa can be dismantled and analyzes, in this context, the role of African children's and youth books translated into German. The work sheds new light on the representation of Africa in children's and youth literature and contributes to raising awareness of the African continent.
