Particularly through his plays and their implementation in the avant-garde theater of Erwin Piscator, the cosmopolitan attracts attention. This work provides a comprehensive overview of the creation, intention, and reception of all published plays by Alfons Paquet for the first time. The systematic reconstruction of his dramatic oeuvre includes both text analyses and the evaluation of previously unpublished archival material and contemporary reviews. The author demonstrates in detail that Paquet deliberately breaks the boundaries of epic, lyric, and drama, establishing himself as a key precursor of 'epic theater.'.
