This book contains over a hundred "Schüttelreim" poems. A "Schüttelreim" is a type of rhyme where the endings of the lines are mixed up. It relies not only on the sound similarity of the last words of each line but also on the second-to-last words. The initial letters of these words are swapped, or "shaken," like this: The guys on the drinking bench get into a quarrel with every cup. When they fought over a feast, the innkeeper threw them out. In this book, many couplets are strung together into funny stories that hopefully provide great enjoyment to the readers.

Author's description: Ute Jäger, a former German teacher from the last century, was struck by the "Schüttelreim" fever in 2000, which she has not been able to shake off since.
