Product details
Bedouin (from Arabic badaw, meaning non-sedentary, nomadic) refers to a nomadic desert dweller (Arabic: al-badiya, steppe, desert) of the Syrian desert, the Arabian Peninsula, parts of the Sahara, the Sinai, and the Israeli Negev. The term badaw is usually not used by the Bedouins themselves as a self-designation. They refer to themselves as arab in contrast to the sedentary (non-nomads), a'ar. This term applied to both townspeople and farmers and means in Arabic: fallana (fallan). This, in turn, leads to the term used to distinguish them from the Bedouins, namely fellache (plowman, cultivator).
