As a guest and observer, as a friend and reporter, Martin Zinggl spends eight months in Nepal. Up close, personally, and unflinchingly, he reports in his articles about this land of contrasts and presents its heroes from the Himalayas. His travels take him to Annapurna, to the largest slaughter festival in the world, to an orphanage for Nepal's cultural heritage, and to elephants playing polo. He takes on a small role in the first Nepali blockbuster, finds the last Ganges dolphins, visits leprosy patients, and receives a blessing from a living goddess. In the process, he discovers a country far from tourist routes, where the inhabitants live cut off from the outside world as they did hundreds of years ago, and one truly feels as if they are traveling through time.
