The philosophers of the West have built quite different houses of reason. In a conversational format, Kersten Reich explores with them plots of land, architecture, and ruins. Where books may be seen as dusty remnants of the past, the personal presence of the spirits here brings forth vividness, wit, criticism, and discussion of current issues. Just as Escher's lithograph "Above and Below" suggests, the conversations create, sharpen, and transform perspectives; where we were just certain we understood something, it turns into a question in the next moment.
