Recent studies on processes, learning experiences, and developments in adulthood provide insight into the malleability of the human psyche. Thus, personality is not viewed as a structure that is essentially completed after childhood, but rather as a constantly evolving possibility. This reveals the processual nature of personality, and it is important to account for the ever-present opportunities for change. Progressions, regressions, and individuation processes are elements of a developmental process that alternates more between poles than striving for a single goal.
