Robert is dead. He provided a safe haven for a community of homeless individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. But now he lies strangely contorted on the floor of his living room. When Danny finds him on a frigid winter night between Christmas and New Year’s, he flees and desperately seeks their mutual friends, their community of the wounded. What unfolds here in many flashbacks is a unique collage about the lives of the outcasts. It tells the story of Danny, a somewhat naive, gentle, heroin-addicted child from the foster care system, who seems ill-equipped for the harsh world he inhabits; his companion Mike, who tries to manage his schizophrenia with heroin; and Ant, who has brought his addiction and both psychological and physical wounds from the poppy fields of the Afghan war zone.
