Elisabeth, known to everyone as Beta, works at a startup. Her daily life is filled with pitches and team-building activities; in her sparse free time, she creates animal models with a 3D printer and samples ice cream from various shops in Berlin. When a stranger with the peculiar alias Toboggan contacts her through an app, her life changes. His profile picture piques her curiosity, but instead of a response, he sends her on a virtual treasure hunt. This leads Beta to the story of the artist couple Lavinia and Walter, who performed dance theater in grotesque full-body masks during the 1920s and broke away from bourgeois conventions. Instead of the hoped-for liberation from societal constraints, a tragedy unfolds when Lavinia takes up a weapon. However, the more Beta learns about the couple, immerses herself in their dedication to art, and explores possible escape routes, the stronger her desire becomes to break free from her own superficial existence. A trip to Barcelona offers her and her team an unexpected opportunity to transform technology into the absurd or perhaps into art – and Beta seizes her chance.
