Product details
Andrei Arsenyevich Tarkovsky (April 4, 1932, in Zavrazhye, Soviet Union; December 29, 1986, in Paris, France) was a Soviet film director. Andrei Tarkovsky was the son of the poet Arseny Tarkovsky. His artistic talent became evident at an early age, supported by his mother. In the 1950s, he initially studied music, painting, sculpture, Oriental studies, and geology before beginning his studies at the Film School in Moscow in 1954. His teacher was the director Mikhail Romm; his graduation film was "The Steamroller and the Violin," which already displayed his uniqueness, although he never considered it part of his body of work. His films "Andrei Rublev," "Solaris," "Mirror," and "Stalker" were only released after facing significant resistance from the authorities.
