Although numerous studies have already addressed this topic, there are still research gaps and methodological deficiencies. Joachim Weise analyzes the mediation of planning and innovation success through project management, as well as the moderation of individual relationships by the innovation degree of the projects. Based on an empirical survey, he demonstrates that business planning in the early phases of a project significantly contributes to the structuring and quality of later project phases, regardless of the project's level of innovation, and that aspects of risk management are important. In contrast, strongly operational project planning and milestone control should only be emphasized for projects with low levels of innovation.
