Product details
"The Primal Screamer" is a captivating Gothic horror novel that intertwines themes of mental illness and the anarchist punk movement. The story is told in the form of a diary kept by Dr. Rodney H. Dweller, a psychiatrist. He documents the experiences of his patient Nathaniel Snoxell, who comes under his care in 1979 following multiple suicide attempts. Snoxell immerses himself deeply in the anarchist punk scene, composing songs and performing at various anarchist centers. The narrative takes a dramatic turn when Dr. Dweller himself loses his mind and disappears in 1985. This semi-autobiographical work is by Nick Blinko, the singer and guitarist of the band Rudimentary Peni, and offers a unique insight into the worlds of madness, suicide, and punk. The new edition also includes Blinko's long-sought illustrations from previous editions, merging the influences of H. P. Lovecraft with the gritty reality of early 1980s England.
