Product details

Xavier "Scarecrow" Wallace, an MMA fighter in his thirties, is facing the fight of his life. Xavier can no longer deny that he is losing his battle against chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), known as boxer’s dementia. Amid the fog of memory loss, migraines, and paranoia, Xavier does everything he can to stay in shape while waiting for the call that will send him back into the ring after a year-long suspension. He watches his diet and trains every day at the gym in Philadelphia owned by his cousin and manager Shot, a retired boxing champion. Xavier gets by training young fighters at Shot's gym and living rent-free in his father's house, where he had to place his father in a nursing home due to advancing Alzheimer's disease. The dementia has revealed his father's latent racism, and Xavier finally learns why his mother left the family when he was still young. Then, he gets the chance for a last-minute comeback fight with the biggest MMA promotion. If he can get back in the game, he can clear his name and start paying Shot back. But can Xavier, whose memory is in tatters and whose life is crumbling around him, maintain the focus he needs to survive?.
