Product details

Societal phenomena such as anti-Semitism, right-wing extremism, and youth violence cannot be understood without analyzing their unconscious dynamics. Tracing the subjective conditions of objective irrationality (Adorno) has been one of the central tasks of politically oriented psychoanalysis since its inception. The Working Group on Political Psychology, founded for this purpose, organized the conference "Political Psychology Today?" in 2009, which is documented in this volume. The discussions focus on the significance of political-psychological traditions for the present, as well as the possibilities of adopting newer theoretical and methodological approaches, exploring new areas of application, and thus advancing Political Psychology. Contributions from Karola Brede, Gudrun Brockhaus, Markus Brunner, Hans-Joachim Busch, and Guido Foll are included.
