Starting with the 2016/2017 school year, the curriculum for the social sciences learning area will come into effect in Rhineland-Palatinate. Specifically tailored for the subject of Social Studies at high schools, we have thoroughly updated and modernized our successful series "Politics & Co." Competency orientation and internal differentiation were the guiding principles in the development of this volume. Competencies are explicitly identified and practiced in a targeted manner. The division into basic, extension, and deepening content, along with targeted aids and additional tasks, enables differentiated learning. Contents include: 1. Participation in school and community 2. Family in society and state 3. Life in the media society 4. Economy and economic order 5. The political order of the Federal Republic of Germany 6. Law and jurisprudence 7. Politics in the European Union 8. Peace and security.
