In the unfinished, posthumously published pamphlet "Tractatus politicus" from 1677, Spinoza develops his conception of politics, outlining how a state must be structured to ensure a peaceful coexistence among individuals while realizing their freedom in light of the forces of affective desire. For this second, thoroughly revised edition of the study edition, the critical new edition of the Latin text published by Omero Prioetti in 2005, found in Spinoza, Oeuvres, Vol. V, has been utilized; thus, it offers an even improved text.
