The Catholic theologian Thomas Schipflinger presents the Sophia as the feminine aspect of God in this work. He finds her not only in Christian tradition and in the visions of gifted seers and artists, but also in Eastern religions and in modern natural sciences. A key insight runs like a red thread through the book: Sophia, the holy wisdom, has incarnated as a human in Mary, just as the divine Logos became human in Christ. The book provides a wealth of material and invites readers to approach this feminine-divine figure meditatively.
