Anette Rein (April 15, 1955, in Wiesbaden) is a German ethnologist and served as the director of the Museum of World Cultures in Frankfurt am Main from 2000 to 2008. Anette Rein completed her studies at the Free University of Berlin and Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. Her major was ethnology, with minors in educational sciences focusing on adult education, sociology, and Mesoamerican studies. From 1976 to 1985, she worked as a freelance collaborator at the Museum of Ethnology in West Berlin. She then spent two years in Bali for study purposes. From 1988, she worked for six years as a research associate at the Institute of Ethnology and African Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and subsequently until the year 2000 at the Institute of Ethnology at the University of Leipzig.
