Gunter Lind, Klaus Mie, and Gunnar Friege have selected and prepared the German student team for the International Physics Olympiad for many years. They have become experts in a special type of physics problems: they need to be challenging enough while also having a certain flair, so that students are eager and excited to start working on solutions. This collection includes both theoretical and experimental tasks. They come from the first two qualification rounds for the physics Olympiad team. Mathematically, the solutions do not require much; however, they are a challenge for advanced physics courses and sometimes even for introductory physics students. The experimental tasks are entirely quantitative, meaning that measurements must be taken and analyzed. The equipment needed is minimal, allowing for easy implementation.
