Process forces and workpiece speeds for centreless grinding

Product details
Characteristic of the centerless grinding manufacturing process is the simultaneous processing and guidance of the workpiece along its peripheral surface. In the simultaneous plunge grinding of different workpiece diameters with stepped grinding and regulating wheel sets, different relative speeds occur between the rotating bodies. In the centerless through-feed grinding process, relative speeds between the workpiece and the regulating wheel also arise due to the reduction in workpiece diameter along the grinding gap and the hyperbolic shape of the regulating wheel. A controlled and constant rolling motion, as desired between the regulating wheel and the workpiece, cannot, by its very nature, occur at all contact points simultaneously. A relative speed between the workpiece and the regulating wheel reduces efficiency in both process variants.
