Product details
Adalbert Stifter (1805 - 1868) came from humble beginnings; he was the son of a linen weaver from the Bohemian Forest. When he was 12 years old, his father passed away, and from then on, he was raised by his grandparents. After completing his secondary education and studying law in Vienna, which he did not finish, he earned a living as a private tutor in Viennese noble households. In 1848, Stifter, who was a supporter of the revolutionary movement, moved to Linz, where he spent the last decades of his life. Adalbert Stifter is regarded as a master of Biedermeier nature depictions; as a storyteller, he employed a clear and sharply observant style. The tales "Bunte Steine," these "playthings for young hearts," as the poet writes in his preface, are one of the great classics of 19th-century German literature. Content: granite, limestone, tourmaline, rock crystal, cat's silver, mountain milk.
