Product details

It is the oldest representation of the sky, and its discovery was an archaeological sensation: The Nebra Sky Disk does not originate from any high culture of antiquity; it was found in the heart of Europe. What lost knowledge does the mysterious disk made of bronze and gold hold? Who were the people that created it 3,600 years ago? Grave robbers discovered the Nebra Sky Disk at the summit of Mittelberg in Saxony-Anhalt, and the archaeologist Harald Meller rescued it for the public. Since then, he has been coordinating the research of its secrets. Together with historian and science journalist Kai Michel, he outlines the panorama of the legendary realm of Nebra. Its connections extended from Stonehenge to the Orient, and its princes were buried under massive burial mounds. It was a time when the concepts of gods, power, and the cosmos were intertwined.
