Prosodic phenomena have long been neglected in interpreting research, despite their significance for oral language production being expressed in very early works on interpreting. In addition to the foundations of communication, translation, and interpreting studies, prosody research serves as the starting point for examining an authentic corpus of professional interpreting performances in the English-German language pair. Taking into account the specific conditions of language reception and production in simultaneous interpreting, and applying an analytical approach that focuses on the essential tasks of prosody, the prosodic features of these simultaneously interpreted texts are analyzed.
