True joy does not come from something visible or tangible. It is a joy without cause, and only it gives you the feeling that you exist as a soul and spirit. Therefore, instead of expecting to possess something or someone to take pleasure in, take joy instead in the mere existence of things and beings. For in this joy that they give you, lies the feeling that they belong to you. Everything that brings you joy, you possess, and even much more than if you were the owner.
