Susanne Schübel examines the process of age-related business succession from a behavioral science perspective. Through the construct of "psychological ownership" and interviews with (potential) transferors and successors, the author uncovers some critical behaviors of older entrepreneurs during the succession process, as well as their causes and consequences. This contributes to the advancement of research on business succession. Additionally, practical recommendations are provided for supporting and implementing age-related succession processes for relevant stakeholders such as transferors, successors, or advisors.
