Anna Bergmann (1953 in Michelbach/Unterfranken) is a German cultural scientist. After studying political and social sciences at the Otto Suhr Institute and earning her doctorate in the Department of Political Science at the Free University of Berlin, as well as at the Institute for the History of Medicine at the Free University of Berlin on the history of racial hygiene and eugenics in the German Empire, she completed her habilitation at the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). She has been a visiting professor at the universities of Graz (1999-2000), Klagenfurt (2001), Braunschweig (2005-2006), and Innsbruck (2007). Anna Bergmann researches and publishes on topics such as the cultural history of anatomy and medical human experiments, transplantation medicine, the history of the perception of the body and death, the history of gender relations, and epidemics.
