Gestalt therapy is part of the humanistic approaches to psychotherapy. Its central values include authenticity, empathy, and mindfulness. Historically derived from psychoanalysis, it distinguishes itself by emphasizing body-oriented and creative therapeutic methods. The relationship is at the heart of the therapeutic process, with the goal of activating the self-healing powers of patients. This book is based on the D-A-CH Congress 2014, a joint event of the Gestalt therapy associations from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The initial contributions of the volume are dedicated to the intellectual and historical sources of Gestalt therapy: Gestalt psychology, psychoanalysis, and various philosophical backgrounds. Following a reflection on the theoretical assumptions, discussions on psychotherapeutic applications are presented.
