Product details

To lead a successful life, it is essential to cultivate a loving relationship with oneself, to be able to create fulfilling relationships, and to translate one's abilities into constructive actions. However, instead of engaging in self-affirming thoughts and actions, a negative inner dialogue often prevails, which frequently leads to self-sabotaging behaviors—whether concerning health, partner choices, or career. This is just one manifestation of the multifaceted phenomenon analyzed by the author: masochism includes both sexual and non-sexual forms, each of which can impact life in different ways. This qualitative study approaches the diversity of masochisms with the following questions: Where does masochistic thinking and behavior originate? What life events can contribute to a sexual masochistic inclination?.
