This collection of empirical studies has emerged from the work of the working group "Partnership, Sexuality, and Fertility" of the German Society for Medical Psychology. The focus is on the topic of "Fertility," which is addressed by the individual authors from different perspectives.

Sven Tönnies and Irina Wirths, in their study, highlight the significance of fears for the course of pregnancy and childbirth, and demonstrate the effectiveness of relaxation and person-centered discussion groups in alleviating these fears. The contribution by Reinhold Schwab and Ingeborg Möller also deals with birth anxiety, but emphasizes the aspect of feelings of loneliness.

In contrast to the studies that focus on the pregnant woman, Hans-Peter Kapfhammer and Christian Mayer explore psychological aspects.
