Jean Laplanche is one of the most renowned and influential French psychoanalysts. With his general theory of seduction, which he developed in his lectures at the Université Paris VII between 1970 and 1993, he presented perhaps the last major framework aimed at establishing a common foundation for psychoanalysis. Throughout his life, Jean Laplanche advocated for a renewal and further development of Freudian psychoanalysis. He placed the Freudian concept of "extended" sexuality at the center of his theoretical work. The French neologism "sexual" is intended to highlight this Freudian extension and emphasize that the unconscious cannot be separated from sexuality. This book compiles, in chronological order, the essays that Laplanche wrote during his final intellectual period between 2000.
