In the present book, authentic case reports from abused psychotherapy patients and a perpetrator reveal the destructive consequences of sexual abuse for the victims. The commented case stories and their analysis by Marga Löwer-Hirsch expose the upheavals and entanglements experienced by the interviewees, making them relatable for professionals and patients alike. The desires of the affected women for recognition of their femininity, security, and uniqueness were met with various forms of boundary violations, which, in retrospect, were always recognized as abusive. Through her explanations, the author reinforces the prohibition of abstinence in psychotherapeutic treatments and the ethical guidelines designed to counter such dangers, while also discussing what constitutes a successful relationship between therapist and patient.
