Fritz Morgenthaler's theory of psychoanalytic technique is as heretical as it is orthodox: he views the analytical process in the Freudian sense, but describes it as a dynamic process that affects and changes both the analysand and the analyst, as both are not free of conflict. If the analyst forgets this and only sees conflicts on the patient's side, the fruitful dynamics of the relational process are jeopardized. The analytical relationship is a dialectical process - initiating and shaping it is the task of the analysts.
