A dialogue between an expectant mother and her future child can increase the chances of conception and the maintenance of a pregnancy. The linguistic therapy approach of the Mother-Embryo Dialogue, developed by Ute Auhagen-Stephanos, strengthens the bond between mother and child even before and during pregnancy, thereby creating conditions for healthy pre- and postnatal development. The author presents a psychoanalytic understanding of infertility and pregnancy that integrates somatic and psychological mechanisms of conception. She particularly focuses on the problematic cases arising from the rapidly expanding field of reproductive medicine. Based on this theoretical context, she illustrates the application of the Mother-Embryo Dialogue using practical examples and provides guidance for its integration into therapy.
