Historical research long overlooked Roma, Sinti, and Jenische as a victim group of the National Socialist persecution and extermination policies. This is also true for Switzerland. This report sheds light on both the background and the processes that led to the policy of the Swiss authorities towards Roma, Sinti, and Jenische, which can fundamentally be described as restrictive, before, during, and after World War II. Through numerous individual cases, the tragic consequences of this policy for those affected are depicted.
