Jesus is the Son of God. This title counters all attempts to relativize the uniqueness of Jesus in comparison to other founders of religions, as is particularly done in pluralistic religious theology. Consequently, Menke rejects the supposedly historically-critical distinction between the pre-Easter Jesus and the post-Easter Christ. His Christology, which goes against the mainstream, does not shy away from discussion, but it does not stop at debate; rather, it seeks to substantiate the openness of the Son in Jesus of Nazareth, as inductively pointed out by Benedict XVI, while considering all counterarguments.
