Principally guiding methodological rules of empirical social research are implemented quite differently in research practice. This depends not only on the research subject but also on the researchers and their research conditions, as Jessica Pflüger demonstrates through an international comparison of various teams in labor sociology case study research. In doing so, she sheds light on a previously underexplored topic at the intersection of sociology of science and methodology: scientific teamwork. The results of the qualitative study point to the necessity for a stronger contextualization of research practice. Social research cannot be understood without the societal framework; it is embedded in nation-specific research cultures.
