Product details

Christophe Girot is a representative of the younger generation of landscape architects in France and has held the chair of landscape architecture at ETH Zurich since 2000, where he has lived since 2002 and runs his own landscape architecture office. Our book brings together five examples of gardens and parks around Paris. Richard Ingersoll, a recognized expert on the European scene of contemporary landscape architecture, describes and analyzes the documented sites. Girot's projects are all based on simple geometric and gestural movements. His concept of garden design begins with modeling the earth's surface. The resulting topography serves as the foundation for a restrained vocabulary of plants, whether it be the empty lawn area in Pierrelaye, the serpentine in Alfortville, or the hill with the giant cedar in the schoolyard of Rueil.
