Petre M. Andreevski (1934-2006) wrote "Quecke," the great novel about Macedonia at the beginning of the 20th century. He has long been a classic and required reading in his homeland. In the first German translation by Benjamin Langer, we too learn about the fate of Jon and Velika, a couple from a small village in the mountains, caught up in the upheavals of Macedonian history.
