Pope Benedict XVI has declared a Year of Faith for 2012/2013, which will be inaugurated on October 11, 2012. According to his wish, this year is intended to make a significant contribution to the rediscovery of faith, among other things, through a deeper study of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The present sourcebook proves to be an indispensable tool for exploring the theological and spiritual depth as well as the foundation of the arguments presented in the Catechism. It offers all the texts referenced by the Catechism in German translation: texts from teaching documents, the Church Fathers, and the Church's tradition. In addition, the volume provides basic information for contextualizing the documents used and their authors.
