As a "175er," Friedrich-Paul von Groszheim is persecuted by the National Socialists, ending up in prison twice and finally in a concentration camp. During this time, he is "voluntarily" forced to undergo a castration. Despite all the adversities, he never denies his homosexuality and enjoys the gay scene of the Roaring Twenties as well as that after 1969. Friedrich-Paul von Groszheim is just one of eleven men born between 1906 and 1925, whose fates have been documented by Lutz van Dijk and Günter Grau in "Einsam war ich nie." In vividly narrated portraits, they give a voice to the still uncompensated victims of the National Socialist tyranny.
