For the second time, daughters and sons of lesbian mothers, gay fathers, and - new this time - parents who identify as transgender share their voices. Ten years after the first interviews, the 34 children, teenagers, and adults were asked again about their views on their families - families that are still perceived as "special" or "needing explanation." What do the children find great about their families? What do they like about their parents, and what do they criticize? What wishes and dreams do they have for their lives? What fears or reactions do they grapple with? What do they experience as supportive? All of this is conveyed authentically and vividly in the texts. The children openly discuss crises and separations and how their parents are there for them. They also provide us with insight into their families, which are "completely normal.".
