Quintana Roo opens the series of collected stories by James Tiptree Jr. in seven volumes and is chronologically included as volume 5 in the series. The three stories were written in the early 1980s and were published during the author's lifetime (1986) under the title Tales of the Quintana Roo, making this the first time they are available in this form in the German language. The uniqueness of the Quintana Roo stories, which stand out from the author's overall work, is explained in detail in an afterword written by Anne Koenen.
