Mesotherapy is a simple and effective treatment method. It involves the targeted injection of medical active ingredients as microinjections into the skin and connective tissue. The technique was developed by Michel Pistor 60 years ago in France and is taught at universities there. Over the past 10 years, the significance of mesotherapy and its related procedures in medical aesthetics has been steadily increasing. Due to the considerable dynamics regarding the variety of active ingredients and the growing use of innovative technologies, a complete revision and expansion of the image atlas of aesthetic mesotherapy has become necessary after 5 years. Not only are newer procedures such as carboxytherapy, PRP, or thread lifting integrated with their own chapters, but the author also bridges to curative applications, particularly in dermatology.
