The discourse on the educational relevance of spaces has significantly intensified over the past few decades. This anthology provides an overview of current lines of discourse, even beyond disciplinary boundaries, and presents essential approaches to defining space from an educational perspective. The volume is divided into three parts: The first part unfolds foundational theoretical definitions of space—such as historical, anthropological, cultural, and educational theories—against the backdrop of their educational relevance. These serve as the starting point for analyzing educational science discourses. The second part addresses questions regarding the effects of space and the appropriation of space from various perspectives. Here, questions about the impact of designed spaces on human perception and action are explored, among other topics. The third part deals with geographical references to space.
