Ute Franck has written down many stories and episodes from her childhood and youth in Meldorf, as well as her years of study in Kiel, that are worth telling. In the summer of 1958, I was 15 years old. A boy from a class above mine, new to our school, burst into my life. He rang our doorbell and asked my mother if he could take me for a walk. "That must be decided by my daughter," she replied. Totally surprised, I agreed. We walked along the Seven Bridges Path and talked. Then he tried to place a kiss. It exploded loudly by my ear. That was enough for me. I told him to get lost. From then on, I watched this boy on the schoolyard. To my surprise, I liked him quite a bit. So, I invited him to our class party in the Dithmarschen Bay at the harbor six months later. We danced wonderfully together. "Marina, Marina, Marina..." After that hit song, we twirled around each other. We walked home from the harbor. Once in the city, we joyfully danced down Roggen and Zingel streets. Wonderful, love-filled months began!.
